Flags at Half-Staff for Dottie Martin

Governor Josh Stein of North Carolina has ordered all U.S. and North Carolina flags at state facilities to fly at half-staff from October 1 through October 5, 2026, in honor of former First Lady Dottie Martin. She served alongside Governor James G. Martin from 1985 to 1993 and was instrumental in establishing the wildflower program along North Carolina highways, championing protections for children, and preventing substance abuse across the state. Martin passed away on September 28, 2026, at age 89.
