Flags at Half-Staff for Chief Joseph Moses

Governor Tina Kotek ordered flags at Oregon public institutions to be flown at half-staff to honor Paiute Chief Joseph Moses of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, who passed away on August 27, 2026. Chief Moses served as Tribal Council Chairman and Paiute Chief since 2001, dedicating decades to Native American education, youth leadership, and community wellness. The order follows the Tribal Council's request to lower flags in mourning of his passing and recognition of his distinguished service to his tribe and broader community.
