Governor Tony Evers of Wisconsin signed Executive Order #239 ordering flags to fly at half-staff on September 7, 2024, to honor former State Representative Stephen J. Freese, who passed away on August 28, 2024. Freese served in the Wisconsin State Assembly for 16 years representing the 51st District and also served as Speaker Pro Tempore. Governor Evers recognized Freese's unwavering dedication to public service, devotion to his family, and commitment to uplifting Wisconsin's rural communities.

Flags of the United States and the state of Wisconsin shall be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, September 7, 2024.
