Governor Maura Healey ordered Massachusetts flags lowered to half-staff in honor of Boston Firefighter Robert Kilduff Jr., a 24-year veteran and third-generation firefighter who died in the line of duty on May 23, 2026. Kilduff fell from the third floor of a burning building in Dorchester while battling a three-alarm fire. His heroic actions that night saved the lives of five individuals, and his death serves as a reminder of the dangers firefighters face when protecting our communities.
