Flags at Half-Staff for Betty Jo Nelsen

Governor Tony Evers ordered flags in Wisconsin to be flown at half-staff on December 2, 2024, in honor of Betty Jo Nelsen, who died on October 17, 2024, at age 89. Nelsen served in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 1979 to 1990 and made history as the first woman to serve as Minority Leader. Her decades of public service included roles as Administrator of the Food and Nutrition Service under President George H.W. Bush and commitment to numerous community organizations.
