Flags at Half-Staff for Charlie Kirk
September 11, 2025 – September 14, 2025
On September 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA and a prominent conservative political activist, was fatally shot while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University in Utah. Governor Tina Kotek of Oregon ordered all flags at Oregon public institutions to be flown at half-staff through sunset on September 14, 2025, in honor of his memory and in protest of this act of political violence. The Governor stated that violence has no place in democracy and expressed deep condolences to Kirk's family.
Flag protocol
Flags at all Oregon public institutions shall be flown at half-staff from sunrise until sunset from September 11 through September 14, 2025.
