Flags at Half-Staff for Patriot Day
September 11, 2026
Each year, the President issues a proclamation designating September 11 as Patriot Day to honor the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. This federal observance also honors the brave first responders and service members who risked their lives to save others. The flag is lowered to half-staff nationwide on this solemn day as a mark of respect and remembrance for those who perished and the heroes who responded.
Flag protocol
