Flags at Half-Staff for Melissa Hart

Melissa Hart, a former Colorado Supreme Court Justice, died on October 1, 2026, at age 57. She served on the state's highest court from 2017 until her retirement in January 2026. Before that she was a longtime professor at the University of Colorado Law School, and she is remembered as a leader in family law and access to justice. Governor Jared Polis ordered flags lowered on the day of her memorial service.
