Utah Governor Spencer Cox ordered flags at half-staff to honor firefighter pilots Chris Andersen and Miles Elliott, who died in the line of duty while battling the Widemouth 2 Fire in central Utah. The helicopter they were piloting crashed on Friday, August 7, 2026, near Richfield while responding to the wildfire. Flags remain lowered until sunset on the day of the last interment to honor their ultimate sacrifice and service.
