Flags at Half-Staff for Hmong-Lao Veterans Day

Governor Tony Evers of Wisconsin signed Executive Order #293 to honor Hmong-Lao Veterans Day. This observance recognizes Hmong and Lao veterans who fought alongside the United States during the Vietnam War from 1961 to 1975. The day marks May 14, 1975, when the last Hmong-Lao soldiers and their families were evacuated from Laos to a refugee camp in Thailand, having faced harsh retribution from Vietnamese and Lao governments for their service.

United States and Wisconsin state flags are to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset.
