Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey ordered flags lowered to half-staff to honor Massachusetts State Police Trooper Kevin Trainor, who was killed in the line of duty on May 6, 2026, while heroically responding to a wrong-way driver call on Route 1 in Lynnfield. The 30-year-old trooper from Salem sacrificed his life protecting the public by attempting to stop the wrong-way vehicle. His courageous actions and commitment to service are being remembered throughout the Commonwealth.

United States and Commonwealth of Massachusetts flags shall be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings from May 6, 2026 until sunset on the day of interment, May 13, 2026.
