Flags at Half-Staff for Brad Hovey

Governor Kim Reynolds of Iowa ordered flags to half-staff on July 9, 2026, to honor Maj. Brad Hovey, an Iowa native and pilot with the 419th Flight Test Squadron at Edwards Air Force Base in California. Maj. Hovey was killed on June 15, 2026, during a B-52 test flight mission when the aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff. The Governor noted that he lived and served with honor and distinction.
Flag protocol
Flags shall be flown at half-staff from July 10 through July 17, 2026, as ordered by the Governor of Iowa.
