Flags at Half-Staff for Esther M. Tomljanovich

Governor Tim Walz ordered all United States and Minnesota flags to fly at half-staff at all state buildings in Minnesota on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from sunrise to sunset in honor of former Justice Esther M. Tomljanovich. The third woman to sit on the Minnesota Supreme Court, Justice Tomljanovich served as an associate justice from 1990 to 1998 and was a trailblazer for women in the legal profession. She passed away on July 26, 2026, at the age of 94 after a brief illness.
