Flags at Half-Staff for Erin M. West and Rubi P. Vergara
December 16, 2024 – December 23, 2024
On December 16, 2024, a shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin killed teacher Erin M. West and student Rubi P. Vergara, along with the shooter. Six others were injured in the tragedy. Governor Tony Evers signed Executive Order #248 ordering flags across the state to be flown at half-staff as a mark of respect for the victims and to show solidarity with the grieving school community and families affected by this devastating loss.
Flag protocol
United States and Wisconsin state flags shall be flown at half-staff beginning December 16, 2024, at sunrise and continuing through December 23, 2024, at sunset.
