Flags at Half-Staff for Patricia Saiki

Governor Josh Green of Hawaii ordered flags to be lowered at sunrise on October 2 in honor of Patricia Saiki, the pioneering Hawaii lawmaker who died September 30, 2026, at age 96. Saiki was the first Republican and second woman elected to represent Hawaii in Congress, serving two terms in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1987 to 1991, and later served as U.S. Small Business Administration Administrator under President George H.W. Bush. The flags will be flown at half-staff at the Hawaii State Capitol, all state offices and agencies, and Hawaii National Guard facilities.
Flag protocol
U.S. and Hawaii state flags shall be lowered at sunrise on Friday, October 2, 2026, and flown at half-staff through sunrise on Monday, October 5, 2026, at the Hawaii State Capitol, all state offices and agencies, and Hawaii National Guard facilities.
