Flags at Half-Staff for Fallen Heroes Day
May 1, 2026
Governor Wes Moore ordered the Maryland Flag lowered to half-staff from sunrise until sunset on Friday, May 1, 2026, for the 41st annual Fallen Heroes Day. This day honors Maryland police, firefighters, corrections officers, and emergency medical/rescue personnel who have died in the line of duty during the past year. The state ceremony at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens brings together all segments of the public safety community to remember and pay tribute to these fallen heroes.
