UT State Order · Half-Staff
Flags at Half-Staff for Dolly Parton
August 26, 2026 – September 1, 2026
Governor Spencer Cox of Utah ordered American and Utah flags to be flown at half-staff at all state facilities in honor of country music legend Dolly Parton, who died peacefully on August 25, 2026, at age 80 from a brief battle with cancer. Parton was an iconic singer, songwriter, and philanthropist whose seven-decade career included more than 100 million record sales, 11 Grammy Awards, and inductions into both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The flag order recognizes her passing and honors her legacy of musical excellence and philanthropic work, including her Imagination Library program that has distributed over 300 million free books to children worldwide.
