Flags at Half-Staff for Dr. Isadore Ramos

Governor Dan McKee of Rhode Island ordered state flags to be lowered to half-staff in memory of Dr. Isadore Ramos, the first American mayor of Cape Verdean descent. Dr. Ramos, also known as "Izzy," dedicated his life to educating generations of students and serving the East Providence community as a teacher, school administrator, and mayor. His legacy encompasses 35 years in education, a lifetime of compassionate service, and his pioneering role as a civic leader who broke barriers while remaining deeply committed to his community.

All state flags in Rhode Island fly at half-staff until sunset on the day of Dr. Ramos's interment.
