September 11, 2026

Governor Kay Ivey of Alabama has ordered all flags in the state to be lowered to half-staff on Patriot Day to honor the nearly 3,000 victims who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The observance honors victims, survivors, and first responders who demonstrated extraordinary courage in the aftermath of the attacks.

Flag protocol
