Flags at Half-Staff for Patriot Day
September 11, 2026
Governor Josh Green has ordered the United States flag and the Hawaii state flag to be flown at half-staff in recognition of Patriot Day, which commemorates the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the attacks that claimed 2,977 lives at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The observance honors those who lost their lives, recognizes the bravery of first responders and survivors, and honors the thousands injured by the attacks whose effects continue today.
Flag protocol
Flags at Hawaii State Capitol, all state offices and agencies, and Hawaii National Guard facilities shall be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday, September 11, 2026, in observance of Patriot Day.
